When to fill out a condition form
Schedule the walkthrough while the unit is empty or before furniture arrives so carpet wear, nail holes, and appliance scratches stay visible. Tenants and landlords should use the same printed copy, note pre-existing damage in the notes column, and sign every page. Take dated photos that match room labels on the form so a deposit dispute later has more than memory.
Move-out day works the same way: compare each room to the move-in column instead of guessing whether a stain was new. If you only need one date on paper, switch to a move-in-only or move-out-only layout linked below rather than leaving the second column blank.
